‘Data Protection’: This part of the course covers the fundamental principles of data protection law, focusing on the GDPR and its implications for national and European jurisdictions. It explores the legal framework governing the processing of personal data, which is crucial in today's digitized economy, where business models often rely on collecting and evaluating large amounts of personal data. The GDPR is central in regulating the conditions under which personal data can be processed, outlining the rights of individuals and the obligations of data controllers. Violations can result in significant fines, making knowledge of data protection law essential in many business areas. The course emphasizes a practical approach, using case law to address common legal issues related to data protection. By the end, students will be equipped to assess basic legal problems concerning data protection.

The course is composed of lectures, self-assessments, group work, and group presentations of case studies.
