FOR REGENERATIVE & DIGITAL BUSINESS

Major reasons many organizations are still struggling with digital and sustainable transformation. However, we will also discuss how emerging technologies may be used for digitally enabled sustainable business models, such that students understand the possible linkages between sustainability and digitalization. As a result, students will learn how to evaluate the readiness of their organization for implementing digital and sustainable business models based on typical digital business model archetypes. Students will learn what tools can be used for this assessment and how to design and plan the transformation of an organization for digital and/or sustainable business models. Consequently, students will learn how to design, plan, and manage transformation readiness regarding the business model perspective. We will show and discuss firsthand practical case studies and apply the concepts to students’ own organizational context.

In this context, we will briefly highlight and discuss the most relevant economic theories for regenerative business. Students will be able to get an understanding of those theories and will be able to compare them in order to formulate a self-informed personal opinion. Our focus will be to reflect upon and discuss the implications of these theories regarding a transformation towards a regenerative business and possibly a regenerative economy. We will follow our general approach of capability-driven transformation and discuss what new capabilities organizations would need to build following some of the key principles, like a circular economy, for instance.

Lastly, we will introduce typical practical recurring patterns of successful strategic transformation designs and how they reflect the different introduced transformational layers of leadership, teams, business models, and regenerative economy. We will discuss how the complexity of these transformations can be managed and address typical risks for failure and how to manage them.

The course explores leadership archetypes for transformation, how to set up leadership structures and manage team dynamics. It covers overcoming roadblocks in transformation, designing digital and sustainable business models, and maturing necessary capabilities. Participants will also gain insight into economic theories for regenerative business and typical transformation patterns across leadership, teams, and business models.

In a 2-days immersion trip to Berlin, we will exchange experiences with people who are responsible for the transformation in their organizations. People with first-hand practical experiences in different contexts share their knowledge with the students. People who may also serve as an extension to students' personal networks in the future. We will meet people from start-ups, VCs, deep tech entrepreneurs, corporate and public innovation hubs, evangelists, and masterminds. Inspiring people who may serve as role models for successful transformational leaders.
