This course will familiarize participants with the basic concepts of data science and business analytics in today´s data-rich digital environments. Specifically, this course will deal with questions of preparing the right information at the right time for the respective management teams using state-of-the-art teaching techniques such as business case studies, real-world data samples, and mini-exercises. We will deal in depth with management questions that revolve around data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence, as well as concepts such as big data, the value of statistics and software engineering in data science and business analytics, and conducting field experiments and A/B-Tests to arrive at better management decisions.

Dr. Marius Liebald
Dr. Marius Liebald is a postdoctoral researcher at Goethe University Frankfurt, where he earned his PhD with the highest distinction in 2023. His research focuses on the intersection of Economic & Financial History, Political Economy, and Business Informatics. It aims to increase the understanding of current economic phenomena by analyzing historical events using the latest statistical methods and (partly self-developed) AI-based technologies. In addition to his academic writings, Dr. Liebald conducted a research stay at the Paris School of Economics in 2023 and has been awarded research grants from the German Research Foundation (DFG), the Fritz Thyssen Foundation, and the FAZIT Stiftung.
