The idea of this elective is to build a bridge to practical risk management. The Frankfurt Institute for Risk Management and Regulation (FIRM) uses its expertise as the leading network for risk managers in Germany. Executives from banks and consultancies will provide an overview of current topics in risk management. We explain which issues risk management units are currently working on in practice and which regulatory requirements are affecting the market. We will cover key financial and non-financial risk topics and provide practical examples of how we are addressing the challenges. The program will also include a deep dive into current trends, such as cyber and geopolitics.

Dr. Til Bünder
Til Bünder is a Partner and Associate Director at the Boston Consulting Group GmbH and a core member of the BCG Financial Institutions and Risk & Compliance practice. He has more than 10 years of international experience in the banking and consulting sector with a focus on ESG, Risk Management and corporate lending. Til obtains a PhD from the University of Cambridge, UK in Structural Biology with a focus on experimental computer simulation of nanomolecular structures and processes. He holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Heidelberg with a focus on molecular biotechnology.
Gerold Grasshoff
Gerold Grasshoff is a Senior Partner and Managing Director in the Frankfurt office of the Boston Consulting Group. He is a core member of the Boston Consulting Group’s Financial Institutions practice and head of the firm’s Risk Task Force. Gerold holds a degree from the WHU in Koblenz and the Plechanow Institute in Moscow, and he studied in Japan and France. Since joining BCG in 1997, Gerold has worked out of the Berlin, New York, and Paris offices, focusing on strategy and large-scale transformation projects. He is the CEO of FIRM, the Frankfurt Institute for Risk Management and Regulation.
Andreas C. Heise
As Global Head of Liquidity Risk Management, Andreas C. Heise is responsible for liquidity risk management in the Deutsche Bank Group and its legal entities. He is a risk and treasury expert with almost 30 years of experience in the banking industry. Since joining Deutsche Bank in 1994, he has worked in various areas of the private client business and the investment bank before moving to Group Treasury and then Risk Management. Andreas holds a degree in business administration (FH) and studied at the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management.
Daniel Naumilkat
As a Senior Manager at Deloitte, Daniel Naumilkat has extensive experience in the domains of cyber and IT strategy, operating models and transformation projects. Daniel primarily advises major European clients in the financial sector and coordinates the FIRM Cyber Risk Round Table since 2023. Daniel holds a Master Degree in Business Information Management of the Rotterdam School of Management (Erasmus University).
Prof. Dr. Thomas Kaiser
Thomas Kaiser has many years of teaching experience. In his long-time affiliation with KPMG, he was responsible for advising leading banks and insurance companies globally on Non-Financial Risk Management. Thomas has also worked for Deutsche Bank, Commerzbank and HypoVereinsbank on Operational Risk and for WestLB on market risk topics. He is (co-)author of various publications, associate editor of the Journal of Operational Risk, a regular speaker on Risk Management at national and international conferences as well as a member of the FIRM advisory board.
